"Sister Twisted" opens the album with what sounds like a maybe a chopped up accordian mashed in with some electro-y synths and monotone spoken word-esque vocals. There's a fun bouncy beat, which continues right into the second track, this one with some "doo doo doo" female backup chorus adding in even more fun. Fun. That's really the essence of this entire album. I could imagine jumping around at a friend's birthday in their living room wearing party hats to this, or maybe getting goofy on the beach playing a pathetic game of volleyball or kadema with this on the boom box. Or if I was lucky, some super cool DJ would toss on "Una Linea De Luz" one of the more dance oriented tunes, though really any of them could make a dancefloor jump. The right dancefloor. The one where cool nerdy kids that like Sissor Sisters or would recognize Men At Work's lead singer Colin Hay on "Monday Killer". I have no idea what they are saying on "A Donde Van Los Muertos? " but I find myself singing along to the la la la's anyway. Slightly off in left field, "Lay Back" leans a little harder with hard-core femme rapper Nefertiti laying it on thick. Overall on Reina, there's a little filler, and a lot of fun. And thanks to Kinky, 90s pop electronica lives on.-- review by Claire Maxwell
