DJ THEO - NYC MIXX (UBL MUSIC) |
| |

Let's get right to it! There are two discs of clubshakers on here to go over. Pay attention, people. Solid Groove's "This Is Sick" kicks off with its ultra minimalist electro that is deliriously hooky and sexy in a really wicked sort of way. The electro theme continues with, oddly enough, "Elektro (The Cube Guys Delano Mix)" by Outworking feat. Mr. Gee. This number is thicker and more textured than the CD opener and really buzzes through brain and bone with its tribal touch. The electro flavors maintain into the bass-heavy "Snowboard" by Principato & Darius and spartan "Knockout" by Cirez D. "Sun Rising Up" by Deux comes along next, with its clubbed out house flavors. That energy flows through into the next track, Mischa Daniels' "Take Me Higher". The hook is in da house on Starkillers' "Discoteka (Austin Leeds & Terranova Remix)" and bright dance colors fly from Phunk-A-Delic's "Rockin (Tim Le El Mix). The bossy-aggressive "Buzz (Robbie Rivera Tribal Mix)" - an aptly named tune - follows up and then shoots into the poppy and unique "Most Precious (Ian Carey Mix)" from Blaze Presents Underground Dance Artists United for Life feat. Barbara Tucker. A bit of retro is hinted at in "Swimming Places" by Julien Jabre and the first disc closes out with "Damage" by Tiefschwarz feat. Tracey Thorn. The lush power of Alex Stealthy's "Something Is Wrong commences the second CD of tunage. Kult of Krameria graces the listener with the ethereal dance of "Pure Reality." Eyerer & Chopstick take a left turn into headier stuff with "She Loves It", the rightly monikered Deepgroove Mix. "Own Life" by Rick Pier O'Neil brings a little trippy house to the table and Danny Tenaglia, with "Dibiza (Bring the Drums Back) (Kick Ass Mix)", lays out some tribal meets the future feelings. Paul Woodford Presents Bobby Peru hands out "Erotic Discourse", a number that shivers with electro weirdness. "Shake Me (T&L Tribal Miami Remix)" by Terranova & Austin Leeds feat. Gina Martina cuts some deep grooves while Ashkan Fardost's "Arise (Hammer & Funabashi Remix)" hammers some warm melodic trance into the proceedings. Next up is Abel Ramos' "Electro Fun", whose name says it all. Randy Katana's "Pleasure Island" presents audio vacation by way of some smooth trance-house and Kris Menace takes you on a "Voyage." Finally, Last Rhythm's "Last Rhythm" brings it home with a little funk. A bit eclectic, this 2-disc mix doesn't stick with one genre, allowing the listener to ride through a variety of styles. -- review by Kristofer Upjohn
