The urban legend is that if you have eat Pop-Rocks and drink soda at the same time, the incredible combustion and chemical reaction could cause you some serious damage – now that’s pop! The only thing more pop than that mind-blowing fusion is the new album, DREAMING, by UK’s ASHLEY JADE. Many of you already know her from the teen-machine Soda Club, well lil’ Ashley is all of 17 years old now and embarking on a solo career; she’s all grown-up, grown-out, and is growing into a major NRG / EuroDance contender.
ASHLEY JADE is one of those bizarre vocal anomalies, a white petite girl who can belt out a big, thick black voice. DREAMING is high octane trance, a gazillion BPM with heavy synths for melodies, break-downs, buildups, and crashing crescendos. The album is also well produced (by Love to Infinity), in that there are lot’s of sound effects of sweeping, spacey, airy-like tones and noises, as well as using echo and stacked tracks on her singing. ASHLEY JADE’s booming voice and style brings some soul to a traditionally soulless, baseless genre.
Hitting the classics, DREAMING features covers of, "Let Me be Your Fantasy"; originally Baby D.'s version from the early 90’s (EuroDance’s golden years), as well as N-Trance's "Set You Free".
“On The Run”, “I’m Dreaming”, “Reach For Me”, and "Take Me Away” are all high energy audio Red Bulls, but ASHLEY slows it down for the romantic contemporary/pop "Laid Bare" (probably the most radio friendly) and, a ballad with a funky R&B beat, “Last Goodbye”. “Bring It On Tonite” is the crowning climax for the album with a hyped, rhythmic vocal track. Be sure to look for the album version including remixes by Flip N Fill and Friday Night Posse.
