Watch your back, William Orbit. You're not the only person that knows how to create a vibrant sense of energy within the context of ambient electronica. It's one of Orbits strengths that he can mingle movement with ambience and the same can be said for John Beltran, whose "Human Engine" is completely absorbing. Indeed, it's an electronic soundscape one is loathe to leave. It's a creator of escape, relaxation, meditation, introspection - even lovemaking, if you're in the gentle mood. Beltran's music shines with personality and keeps the elements of each track moving like atoms, but atoms darting around in an arrangement whose total result is an organism of soft, enveloping music. The melodiousness of these tracks is outstanding and one can't help but feel that for a time he is caught up in a world where all is right. -- review by Kristofer Upjohn
