This batch of chilled tunes fuses organic with electronic elements and very old school flavors with modern aesthetics in a batch of songs that just screams eclecticism. OK, since this is more chillout, I guess maybe it whispers eclecticism, but you get the point. There are a lot of styles converging here, with the music reflecting aspects of straightforward electronic chillout, ambient, showtunes, folk, jazz, bossa nova, Josh Groban-ish singing, lounge, etc. etc. etc. You'd think that a mix like that would end up sounding cluttered. At first it is a little mishmashy but it doesn't take too long to get into the flow; overall, Misty Roses does a good job of uniting these various elements into a polygamous marriage of styles and ideas. Despite a bit of smarm that wanders into and out of the music from time to time, "Monster Zero" works fairly well and is an original presentation of chilled tunage. -- review by Kristofer Upjohn
