The ups and downs of Tiesto's "Elements of Life" sort of dovetail. Tiesto is known for his trance and he deserves to be. Laying out his melodious slices of groove-driven music, Tiesto here sends out the beats meant to make dance floors move and surrounds them with a lush, beautiful aura. Ethereal melodies billow around the listener while the dance beats do their trick. It's almost as though you took the opposite ends of electronica's spectrum - dancing and chilling - and put them together. The hooks are definitely about groove and moving your body while the melodies seek to lull your mind into transcendent bliss. However, my one quibble also stems from this fusion. One doesn't quite feel that the melodies and beats find cohesion, which is to say that "Elements of Life" barely misses feeling seamless. However, this is still good trance, melodic and emotional and it's way more right than wrong.
