This is the first disc in a series devoted to the joys of dub. Get your bass speakers ready and be prepared to chill to some warm-cool awesome grooves. The bass melodies on this compilation resonate nicely and offer solid grounding for the ripples of dub grooves served generously atop the low end. A variety of artists are represented on Sub Signals Volume 1 and the comp certainly has justified its existence. Dub is a great genre with dedicated fans but sometimes it seems a tad underrepresented. With Interchill offering this new series that explores the world of dub (and offers some thumpalicious bass work in the process), the dub realm just got a nice bump-up on the consciousness meter. If you haven't heard dub, if you love dub, or if you want to get a feel for the genre, this is a helluva good place to start.-- review by Kristofer Upjohn
