Industrial rockers Specimen display their talents here with the goth wave stylings of "Electric Ballroom." There's no mistaking the band's presence as a modern act yet its sound is steeped in the new wave and goth rock flavors of Retroland. It's a nice blend and Specimen has certainly pulled together a sound all its own while referencing the classic and familiar. Assertive but not blunt or overly aggressive, Specimen brings a heavy edge to the deathrock/new wave kind of sound, along with the post-modern industrial elements. Appealing to both rockers and electronic music fans, Specimen presents a distinct sound to the listener. -- review by Kristofer Upjohn
