PUSHMIPULYU - 133 THURSDAYS (INTERCHILL RECORDS)

Within just the first track of this album you will find yourself subjected to a startling array of influences. World music, jazz, funk, psychedelia - all presented via electronica that is suprisingly organic yet absolutely electronic in texture. (And the foreign language vox on this track even feature Tuvan throat singing!) It's a masterful and sublime feat, to be sure. Venture beyond that first track and you will continue to find music that is eclectic and energetic yet chilled, tunes that weave compelling music out of shadow, art from the stars. Atmospheric and intellectually arousing, not to mention emotive and compelling, Pushmipulyu is refreshing and surprising, setting a standard for other electronic artists. -- review by Kristofer Upjohn
