Regular readers will know I frequently praise the electronica produced by those musical creators who are secure enough in their artistry to realize that less is more. "Bliminal" is another fine example from this and since it's a compilation, it introduces you to a whole passel of artists that know how to do what I've just described. Finding a mystical common ground wherein energy and chillout principles co-exist, the collection of electronica purveyors herein provide music that offers perk and meditative power at the same time. Using beats that are fully awake but not aggressive or skull-rattling, these artists add just the right amount of propulsion to their spacey melodies, offering up tunes that seem sort of like what goa might be if it was a little more melodic, a bit less dark and relied on space music trip factors for its psychedelic quality instead of aural LSD. -- review by Kristofer Upjohn
