STRICTLY TIEFSCHWARZ (STRICTLY RHYTHM)

More... Part 2 TEXT/HTML Save (1.46 KB) Part 1 TEXT/PLAIN Save (1.26 KB) Fresh out of a several-year hiatus, Strictly Rhythm hits hard and fast with "Strictly Tiefschwarz," an album that proves house is a viable genre. House can be exciting, vibrant, living, breathing aural virtue. There's a lot of dreck out there, but "Strictly Tiefschwarz" is not among the beat garbage. There are three discs here, enough good house to glut yourself on and still have leftovers. Big, fat grooves and textural edge are the meat and spine of this somewhat minimal but hardly hollow dance music. Tiefschwarz isn't afraid to use spaces as big as the beats, but the space is used to make the music even fuller. And the considerable electro infusion brings even more energy and interest to the strong pulse of these tracks. There's no waiting for the fire to rev up and kick in. If you're gonna like this, you're gonna like it from the start.-- review by Kristofer Upjohn
