I was at first not particularly taken by Baby Anne's new "Past Present Future," but at first truly does mean at first. She quickly overtook my doubts and plowed ahead with style and grace, charging up the sounds in my CD player with hip bass pulsations and not-to-be-denied rhythms. It quickly finds a groove and drives it through the heart of the listener. It's cool to kick back and jam to what she's going on. Now, it doesn't boast four-star infectiousness - not for me, anyway. "Past Present Future" is a good, if not great, CD. It's one to pop in and check out for a spin or two, something to keep your driving groovy for a couple of days. I doubt that for me it would have much longevity as a regular player in my CD collection. However, I also know that this CD will find plenty whose opinion differs from mine.
