Jazz and blues NOLA style erupt everywhere when the play button gets smacked on Putumayo's tribute to the glory of this down-south brass. Sassy and full of attitude with lots of big, rich vocal performances to accompany the brass, the songs herein bring New Orleans jazz-blues culture to life right where you are - in front of your computer, in your living room. It's musically nourishing and full of the ironic saucy spirituality of the area. This is music by folks who love their Jesus but love to party too. Of course, it's not all religious, but gospel flavors are a staple of this type of music and whether you believe or don't believe (a NO vote for me, but that just proves my point, given that I like this CD), this is a head-bobbin' mama of a disc.-- review by Kristofer Upjohn
