The spirit of trip-hop flows through the music of The Egg. "Forwards" is an album in which every track is a ticket to trip. Spirit-engaging, mind elevating and all that good stuff. Feel melodies flow like sturdy, cool breezes - not rough gusts - across your skin. Absorb the etherea, that aural mist firing synapses in your ears. The Egg manages to find different ways to approach the same emotional end result. Organica and electronica manifest with that oxymoronical streamlined eclecticism (I've mentioned it before - The Egg does not have a monopoly in it, but a doctorate does hang on the wall). "Forwards" has a penchant toward poppiness. At times I could detect electronic pop come new waving at me. It's not as bone deep an album as the genre allows for, but it certainly will take your aura for a spin.-- review by Kristofer Upjohn
