DAVE SEAMAN THE MASTERS SERIES (RENAISSANCE)

Dave Seaman brings us the tenth volume in Renaissance's Master Series and gives a little more life to the house genre than it sometimes tends to have. The musical arc across the flow of tracks is most definitely progressive, beginning with more minimalist house flavors and building to a peak of perky, lively, melodic dance numbers that bristle with addictiveness and charge up the dance floor without the pummeling and banging of some dance music (which is all right if you want that, but if you want something less heavy but just as dance-inspirational, then you're in the right place). The textures are what really stand out here; they help tremendously in conveying the melodies with the right balance of weight and flying ability. These CDs have a spark of life more house could use. -- review by Kristofer Upjohn
