INDICIA - IDENTIFYING MARKS (KANPAI) |

Experimental dark-pop, vocal downtempo, chilled industrial sounds are on the move and full of attitude on Kanpai Records’ release “Identifying Marks” by Indicia. I can’t say I’ve exactly heard anything like this before, though it’s not obscure or inaccessible either. Soft but commanding female vocals sing their melody and emotion over a backdrop that combines both organic and electronic elements to create an ambience that is both airy and lush and through which moves scattery but exquisitely controlled and placed chilled percussion, completing the spacious textures on tap by Indicia. There’s no doubting the talent and ability of this band. Indicia’s ability to merge tunes that are quite approachable but simultaneously creative, edgy and envelope stretching, stylisitcally. Past these brief descriptions, there’s really no way I can any further attune you to the sounds of Indicia.
