Keb Darge & Little Edith's Legendary Rockin' R&B might be a tad mistitled since it's marketed as a collection of lesser known black rock/R&B tracks, but who cares? What matters is that it's still a great batch of roots rock from back when the genre was still growing out of R&B, back when it was still really contentious (can't have white kids listening to that black music, can we? well, hell, yeah, we can!). At any rate, fans of the old school rhythm-and-rock will find plenty of tunage to rock out to here. This is high-energy, good vibe, organic-fantastic rock-n-roll from the heydey of the genre. Even better, this is a slab of trackage you aren't likely to run across on your spin across the classic radio dial. You've heard all those songs about a million freakin' times before, so why keep jammin' to those all the time? You've got 'em all on disc, anyway, right? The one big problem with vintage anything is that, theoretically, you'll eventually run out of "new" stuff to listen to. Well, we can thank Keb Darge & Little Edith for staving off that problem for just a bit longer, can't we? -- review by Kristofer Upjohn
