From teflon slickness like Timo Mass' "Pictures" to
the progressive build of Modulation's "Sky", from the
unshakable beauty of Delerium's "After All" to the
dense, epic lushness of "Miss A Day" by ATN, Trance
Plant's third session is a powerhouse of metaphysical
trance music. Compilations like this show how a proper
trance comp is to be made. A bit shy of being as good
as the best, Trance Plant 3 still stands head and
shoulders above a lot of that dreck cluttering the
trance bins. Max8, the master behind the mixin' here,
manages to find a selection of tracks that don't get
lost within each other, each manifesting with its own
unique luster; but he also accomplishes a mix of
varied tracks that sounds right, smooth but not dully
homogenous. Every track here soars with energy and a
quick peek at the names involves shows why: Armin Van
Buuren, Tiesto, George Acosta, not to mention some
talented lesser-knowns. Max8 even adds his own Van
Buurenish debut track, "Dreaming." Next time you're
browsing frustratedly through the selection at your
local CD store, remember what I said and ask the clerk
for "Trance Plant Session 3."-- review by Kristofer Upjohn
