SOS The SexonSubstance triumvirate unite their powers for the next installment in the revered Balance compilation series on Stomp EQ. This is the official Balance 013: SOS launch party! This highly lucrative and energetic trio has had vast success individually and now looks to take on the world as a group. First gaining praise for their SOS on Thames boat parties and Ibiza residencies, Londoners Demi, Desyn Masiello and Omid16B are coming at us fast. These technologically savvy DJ deviants work the mix with supernatural precision and have proven there is no party like an SOS party. Drawing inspiration from their musical heritage and direction from either of their two music labels (Deeper Substance & Sexonwax), SOS was born of a desire to create energy. The group had been getting ready for the upcoming Winter Music Conference and the release of their new installment to the highly acclaimed ‘Balance Series’ with Balance 013. Look for the album to hit US shelves by late April 2008. Until then, let’s see what these guys are all about.
Friday, March 28th has a pair of Made Events:
DRUMCODE Since the mid-90s, Swedish techno pioneer Adam Beyer’s Drumcode label has become synonymous with the techno sound of Sweden, with Beyer and Joel Mull forming the nexus of the Swedish Techno mafia. Joined by Pär Grindvik, newly anointed ‘Producer of 2007’ by Beyer, his live sets are inspired by memories and music from the past, combined with the future of techno. Another techno upstart is Indiana-based producer Kyle Geiger, the first American to release on Drumcode and named Beyer’s "Breakthrough DJ of 2008." Rounding out the techno testosterone is the eclectic Ida Engberg. Together these artists have evolved from the harder, percussive stylings of the late 90's Swedish Techno sound and continue to bridge the gap into the future of the modern Techno sound. In 2008, Beyer is planning to take Drumcode to the next level with more shows and promotion with a string of releases and remixes on Drumcode and sub-label Truesoul from the likes of Perc, Joey Beltram, Len Faki, 2000 and One, Paco Osuna, Kyle Geiger, Hardcell, Pär Grindvik, Ortin Cam, Smith & Selway, Raudive, Patrik Skoog, Museum, Nihad Tule, JPLS, Martinez and Cirez D. At this all-night party at B.E.D., Adam Beyer will be playing along with Joel Mull, Par Grindvik (live), Kyle Geiger and Ida Engberg.
And if anything is going to get you out of B.E.D, it will be ORGANIZED NATURE with GABRIEL & DRESDEN. The San Francisco-based artist/DJ/production duo returns to Pawn Shop for a second sensational year. Gabriel & Dresden are set to release their exclusive G&D remix for Monochrome "Pearl". After judging the Heineken Thirst Competition, they selected the Romanian winner, Monochrome "Pearl", and decided to go into the studio together. Their syndicated one hour monthly radio show "Gabriel & Dresden Organized Nature" is aired on satellite, FM, cable and Internet radio stations worldwide. As if that wasn’t enough, Mark Knight will be playing an extended set in the back room. Be prepared for a techno and prgressive filled atmosphere sure to cater to the demanding house music connoisseurs.
Saturday, March 29th, 2008: You made it to the weekend!!! On Saturday, Made Event presents a trio of events:
STANTON SESSIONS at B.E.D. Stanton Warriors are the breakbeat duo Dominic Butler and Mark Yardley. They are a DJ and producer team of Nu skool breaks. Their style is sometimes described as a fusion of electro, breakbeat and 2-step UK garage. This year Stanton Warriors bring together the UK heavyweights for an intimate Saturday night session. Their latest release “The Remixes” features a collection of their remixes of artists who were important to the UK Garage and Electronic scenes, including cuts from Alter Ego, Apollo 440, Gorillaz, Fatboy Slim, Layo & Bushwacka, Basement Jaxx and many others. The Freestylers are exactly as their name suggests, a heady blend of brash, hip-hop-inspired grooves resulting in a hypersonic amalgamation that knows no barriers. They have been storming with their new mash-up “Push Up Word Up” out on Ministry of Sound this year. The dancefloor-destroying duo Deekline & Wizard blend together live scratching with a hip hop approach to mixing for a truly one-of-a-kind performance. This party will be filled with funk and deep ass bass. A fun filled night of old school meets new school. Sure to be a treat for anyone in attendance.
LEE BURRIDGE at The Pawn Shop. In a congested arena of DJs vying for recognition and attention, Lee Burridge is an anomaly. Lee is an internationally known house and breakbeat DJ. In 2001, he released the DJ mix Nubreed 005 for the Global Underground Nubreed series. Further, he also released the Tyrant 1&2 compilations with Craig Richards on Fabric records, London. In 2003, he released the second mix for the Global Underground series 24:7, and in 2005 he joined with Sander Kleinenberg to release This is Everybody! On Tour. He is known for his hard house techno inspired sets and this year’s WMC will be no different. With his contribution to the “Balance Series” on dance music compilations gaining high praise, it's no holds barred at the 4th annual Burridge Barrage. Lee moves to bigger, darker digs as the weather gets warmer. Let the degeneration begin! Your ticket for this event includes admission to Loco Dice & Marco Carola event (see below) also at at The Pawn Shop 10pm - 8am.
LOCO DICE & MARCO CAROLA. A MUST ATTEND EVENT FOR ALL MUSIC FANS, these two techno stalwarts take you down the decadent path of no return. Loco Dice previews new tracks from his debut artist album ‘7 Dunham Place’ out in April 2008 and Marco tries to outdo last years mess at Pawn Shop. With his smooth mixing and minimal, crowd friendly tracks, Marco creates an unbelievable setting. In the game for years, this Italian stud drops banger after banger to have your head and ears rattling for days later. His minimal style sets your body into a trance as you are compelled to move to the beat. Not many do it like Marco, but if there was anyone to pair him up with for an amazing show in would be none other than Loco Dice. Pioneer in the minimal movement, Loco started as a rapper in Berlin. After making it in the rap game, he quickly moved to dance music and took over. He has toured the world several times over and is one of the most in-demand jockeys out there. His style is extremely unique and his techno tracks have you shaking from the start. He is an excellent on-the-spot remixer and his shows are legendary. With a new album dropping next month, be sure to tune in to this party. These two juggernauts don’t mess around when it comes to deep and dirty beats. Circle this date and make sure you’re there… Tix include admission to The Burridge Barrage (see above).
Sunday morning... if you are still standing, much less still able to dance, you've obviously been in training for Miami for the past few months, and deserve to go to...
PS103: SUNDAY SCHOOL FOR DEGENERATES The 3rd annual PS103 brings the best underground artists from across the globe including big names, small names, and no names. The Sunday School for Degenerates series tests clubbers to the limit. The PS 103 marathon party begins at 6AM but has now been extended until Midnight! Made Event has revealed its starting line-up for the much-anticipated closing party with a few surprises to come. Made Event's Laura De Palma shares their strategy for the unique challenge of programming a quality 18 hour party, "Our first focus is to introduce the newest, most cutting-edge artists on the techno scene- just when the buzz is about to happen on them. It is also important to slot in a few ‘heavy-weights’ - those we KNOW will rock it. Finally, because it’s the last party of WMC, we try to provide, musically, something to end the week on a high note!" The stellar line-up notwithstanding, this is always an assemblage of the finest congregation of party professionals around. 6am – Midnight
